Indole is a naturally occurring organic compound produced by gut bacteria through the metabolism of the amino acid tryptophan.

Natural sources of indole are cruciferous vegetables ( broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussels sprout, kale, back choy) which contain compounds like glucosinolates that convert into indole derivatives.

While not high in indole directly, certain food support its production:

  • Foods rich in tryptophan (turkey, eggs, dairy, nuts, seeds)

  • Fiber-rich foods that nourish gut bacteria

Indole is a powerful, naturally occurring compound that connects gut health, hormone balance, and detoxification. Eating a diet rich in cruciferous vegetables is one of the easiest and most effective ways to support healthy indole levels.
