The relationship between an acidic body, "acidosis" and illness has long been established. Acidity destroys its own cells, has a weakened immune system, ages rapidly, has metabolic and weight regulation problems.
Before the 19th century, little was known about the concepts of acids and bases, pH, and the acid or alkaline load of foods. During the next half-century, a number of researchers showed that health improvements come from consuming raw fruits and vegetables.
What is the body pH
The pH reflects the concentration of hydrogen ions. Blood pH does not change and it is maintained at 7.365. Stability of the blood pH is supported by multiple mechanisms. Different part of the body has different pH requirement: stomach is acidic, bile is alkaline, the lower bowel is slightly acidic, vaginal environment is acidic. The urine pH can be the indicator of body internal condition. Urine pH should be slightly acidic (6.8) or neutral (7.0).
Causes of acidosis
High acidity depends on diet. The toxicity of the majority of foods in a typical diet and most of the tap water causes the body to become more acidic. Excessive protein and minerals intake, beverages, drugs, and disrupted metabolism contribute to acidity. The average diet in the US is acid-producing with Net Endogenous Acid Production 48 mEq/d (Sebastian A. et al., 2002).
Although the kidneys and lungs tried to rid of excessive acidity, it cannot be done completely. When overwhelmed systems start to fail, calcium from bone is used. Excessive acidity might be a cause of osteoporosis and a common risk factor for Ca stone formation in the kidneys. The reduced salt and/or animal protein diet is likely to result in a lower acid load. Table salt contributes to 50% of acidity of the average American diet [Frassetto LA., et al. 2007]. The sources of the salt in the American diet are wheat products (Including pasta and pizza), followed with chicken dishes, beef dishes, eggs, sausages, bacon, cheese [Pizzorno J. 2015].
Toxins in the lymphatic and circulatory system, thyroid, parathyroid, and other hormonal imbalances, low minerals contribute to a low acidic pH.
According to Liamis G, et al.2010, many commonly prescribed drugs induce acidity in the body. For example NSAIDs, betta blockers, angiotensin II receptor blockers, potassium-sparing diuretics, antibacterials (trimethoprim), antivirals, statins, metformine, acitomenophen, salicylates and several others.
With age, the severity of diet-dependent acidosis most likely due to a decline in kidney functional capacity [Pizzorno J. et al.2010; L Frassetto L. & Sebastian A., 1996] and change in intestinal absorption.
Too much acid is stressing the body systems and resulting in diseases. As other stresses, if an acidic environment is not persistent body will recover easily.
Acidosis and Diseases
If the pH of the cells and intracellular space becomes more acidic, it causes disruption of enzyme function, loss of insulin sensitivity, and cellular metabolism. The body cannot effectively absorb nutrients, flush toxins, properly regulate minerals such as calcium, and most importantly, cannot maintain high levels of oxygen.
Excessive acidity impairs the immune system. When the immune system is compromised, the body loses its ability to function properly or fight infections, alkalize itself, and then the body loses its ability to absorb oxygen effectively. Viruses, bacteria, yeasts (mold, fungus, candida) and cancer cells thrive in a low pH environment.
Acidosis contributes to a wide range of diseases, such as diabetes, obesity, cancer, osteoporosis, kidney stone, cardiovascular diseases arthritis, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis and increased susceptibility to environmental toxins [Souto G.et al. 2011]. Acidic body has a tendency to heartburn and stomach ulcer.
Diseases cannot survive in an alkaline state.
Acidosis and cancer
Research studies have shown that low pH promotes the invasive and metastatic potential of cancer cells [Rofstad EK at al, 2006; Robey IE, 2012]. The extracellular microenvironment of most solid tumors is acidic [Wike-Hooley JL et al, 1984]. Extracellular pH of tumors is typically between 6.5 and 6.9. Normal tissue pH resides between 7.2 and 7.5 [Vaupel P, Vaupel P, Griffiths JR, 1991].
Otto Warburg, Nobel prize winner (1931) discovered that the root cause of cancer is too much acidity and oxygen deficiency. His findings demonstrated that cancer cells are anaerobic (do not require oxygen) and cannot survive in the presence of high levels of oxygen, as found in an alkaline state. Cancers are merely a symptom of acidosis. Acidic bodies cannot retain enough oxygen to function properly. When a body reaches the alkaline state instead of acidic, cancers become dormant. And therefore it is impossible to successfully cure any cancer without first curing the underlying acidosis.
Animal studies showed that in some tumor types, systemic alkalinization reduces the spread of metastases and improves survival [Robey IF et al, 2009; Ibrahim-Hashim A et al. 2012].
Testing body acidity
The most common sample for pH testing is urine. Take a sample of morning urine. To avoid bacterial contamination, "clean" midstream urine is used. Litmus paper is used to measure pH. To get accurate result small samples of 24-hours urine is collected and measured with pH meter.
Low pH and free radicals can be shown microscopically on dry blood cells analysis.
Blood cannot coagulate evenly where acids settle. Acidity can be determined by white puddles, the size, and shape of which represent the severity of damage. White paddles location corresponds to different organs.
How to reach alkalinity
Growing numbers of research prove clinical benefit of diet and alkalizing supplements. It has been recommended a diet reach of vegetables and fruits, low in animal protein and sodium chloride (salt).
Consuming green powder drinks, and adding to a smoothie is a great way to maintain proper acid-alkaline balance.
Sprouts are very alkaline, they contain natural enzymes, rich in fiber; they contain a significant amount of vitamin K, folate, pantothenic acid, niacin, thiamin, vitamin C, vitamin A, and riboflavin. In terms of minerals, they contain manganese, copper, zinc, magnesium, iron, and calcium With sprouts you are able to overcome health problems related to excessive acidity. You can grow your own sprouts in your kitchen with little effort and have fresh sprout for everyday consumption.
Drink alkaline water. Alkaline water is a powerful antioxidant. It effectively balances body pH level, promotes better hydration and detoxification.
Alkalizing supplements. Minerals - Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, and Sodium. Vitamins A, C, D and E. #10 Natrium Phosphoricum cell salt.
I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 1 month after I turned 50. My Grand-mum was 96 and had it since she was in her 20s. I was on Copaxone, the first year was daily and later I was on 40 mg, 3 times a week. It made a tremendous difference for me. Although the fatigue was what really gets to me. When I do too much, I do start to feel weak. There has been little if any progress in finding a cure or reliable treatment. My multiple sclerosis got significantly worse and unbearable because of my cognitive thinking.. Last year, i started on a natural multiple sclerosis Herbal therapy from Green House Herbal Clinic, i read a lot of positive…
